At the foot of the Peñón de Ifach, between two beaches.
We search the entire market on your behalf.
Calpe sits on the northern Costa Blanca and is dominated entirely by the Peñón de Ifach: the 332-metre rock rising straight out of the sea, protected as a natural park. On either side lie two very different beaches, and between them an old town that still feels genuinely Spanish, with a working fishing port and a daily fish auction.
For buyers, Calpe is interesting because it combines two worlds: sea-view apartments in the high-rise along Levante beach, and quiet villas in the hills behind with views across the bay. The town stays lived-in all year, which is far from a given along this coast. Read more about our independent buying guidance.
The protected natural park defines the view and limits development around it.
Levante is lively with high-rise and promenade; Arenal-Bol is calmer and closer to the old town.
A historic centre with painted houses, a market and a fishing port — not a standard resort.
Amenities stay open outside the season too, which matters for permanent living.
High-rise with sea views, promenade and most amenities within walking distance.
Beside the old town, quieter and with a larger Spanish population.
Hillside neighbourhoods with villas and panoramic views over the bay and the rock.
More spacious and greener, slightly further from the beach.
Narrow streets, plazas and the daily life of the town itself.
Fishing harbour with fish auction, restaurants and direct access to the sea.
Development along Levante beach is dense and tall. Sea views from lower floors can disappear later — always check what may still be built.
Villas in Maryvilla and around sit on steep, winding roads. Wonderful views, but less practical if you are less mobile or would rather not drive.
July and August are busy and parking is scarce; winter is considerably quieter. Ideally visit in both seasons.
