A different side of the Costa Blanca

Why live in Los Montesinos?

Los Montesinos lies inland on the southern Costa Blanca, in the Vega Baja. The village has its own centre, local amenities and an agricultural setting. Torrevieja and Guardamar are destinations for a day by the sea or extra facilities; your everyday base remains the village.

A village with its own rhythm

A centre with bars and restaurants, shops and a weekly market. Interesting if you also want to connect with local life beyond your own home.

Nature as part of your week

Los Montesinos has municipal walking routes and a connection with the natural area of the La Mata and Torrevieja lagoons.

The coast as a day out

You do not live on a seafront promenade. A day at the beach in Guardamar or Torrevieja is a trip out: so compare the actual route from the home you are considering.

Ordinary days count too

Do you want to live here permanently, spend the winter or come now and then? Your everyday destinations and transport needs determine which location suits you.

Our advice: don’t just visit the house, but also the centre and the neighbourhood on an ordinary weekday. A villa outside the village core calls for a different trade-off than a home close to your everyday amenities.

Daily life and amenities

You don’t choose a house on bedrooms and outdoor space alone. In Los Montesinos, the village centre, local shops, bars and restaurants and municipal facilities are also part of the choice.

Shopping & eating out

Include the centre in your visit. Where will you do your daily shopping, and how will you get there from the home you are considering?

Healthcare & practical matters

Los Montesinos has a local health centre. Which care you can use and how you register depends on your personal situation.

Sport & outdoor life

Municipal sports facilities and walking routes offer starting points for an active everyday life. Check the current programme before planning your week.

Want to depend less on the car? Then test the actual walking route, crossings and accessibility of your everyday destinations. A short distance on paper doesn’t say everything about how easy the journey is.

In the village itself

The weekly market of Los Montesinos

Los Montesinos has its own weekly market on Fridays, in Calle de los Santos Médicos and the adjoining streets in the centre. The municipal tourist guide and current market listings give this day and location.

That is something different from the Lemon Tree Market at El Raso/Guardamar. That Sunday market is a trip out into the surrounding area, not the village market of Los Montesinos.

Before your visit, check the current opening times and any changes around public holidays with the municipality.

Beaches and nature in the area

Los Montesinos is connected with the landscape around the La Mata and Torrevieja lagoons. The municipality publishes walking routes that start and finish in the village: a good first introduction to the local surroundings.

For a day at the beach, you can explore the coast at Guardamar or Torrevieja. The beach is not on the doorstep of every home in Los Montesinos; we assess the route from the specific location.

Lemon Tree Market – a well-known Sunday market in the area

The Lemon Tree Market takes place every Sunday at El Raso/Guardamar del Segura, on Camino del Raso. From Los Montesinos it is a trip out into the surrounding area. The market is not in Los Montesinos itself.

In this AnaCosta video, Corina shows the atmosphere of the Lemon Tree Market. These are images of the market at El Raso/Guardamar, not of Los Montesinos.

Rojales & Ciudad Quesada

Explore the village centre of Rojales and compare it with the residential area of Ciudad Quesada. At the Cuevas del Rodeo there is also room for art and crafts.

A day in Torrevieja

The coastal town shows another side of the region. Combine a visit to the town with getting to know its local cultural offering, for example.

Getting there: look at your own routes

Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández is an airport to include in your travel planning. The AP-7 and the connections to the coastal towns also play a role. We don’t give fixed transfer or beach times here: they differ per home, route and time of day.

Your regular destinations

Work, healthcare, sport, school or beach: during a viewing, test the routes you will really use, not just the one to the holiday address.
